Cisco revealed in its ‘2023 Cybersecurity Readiness Index’ that only 4% of organizations in India have reached a ‘mature’ level of readiness to combat modern cybersecurity risks.
The index noted that enterprises in India are facing a range of cyber threats, from phishing and ransomware to supply chain and social engineering attacks.
Despite efforts to strengthen their defenses, organizations are struggling to fend off these attacks due to complex security postures dominated by multiple-point solutions.
It is crucial for businesses to be prepared, as 82% of respondents believe a cybersecurity incident could disrupt their operations in the next 12 to 24 months.
The survey of over 8,000 private sector security and business leaders across 30 markets, including India, revealed that 99% of companies are preparing to address emerging cyber challenges and plan to increase their cybersecurity budgets in the next year.
Samir Kumar Mishra, Director of Security Business at Cisco India & SAARC, emphasized the importance of investing in cybersecurity and adopting an integrated platform approach to protect against evolving threats. Mishra highlighted the need to integrate AI into frontline defenses to enhance security resilience in a digital-first world.
