The Slippery Rock Area School District’s board made a decision on Monday evening, March 25, to participate in a no-cost grant opportunity aimed at enhancing the district’s cybersecurity.
Assistant Superintendent Susan Miller stated on Tuesday that the State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program comes at no expense to the district.
“This is a complimentary opportunity provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Education to help school districts address cybersecurity risks and threats,” Miller explained. “In particular, we are utilizing this opportunity to bolster intrusion detection, vulnerability management, and security information.”
Rocket Pride award
Superintendent Alfonso Angelucci announced that Missy Persol, assistant director of operations for custodial and maintenance services, has been honored with this month’s Rocket Pride Award.
According to Angelucci, Persol took on responsibilities typically handled by the director of operations, who is currently on indefinite leave.
“(Persol) has excelled in maintaining staffing levels,” Angelucci praised. “Despite facing challenges, Missy has remained composed… Additionally, she consistently maintains a friendly, respectful, and professional demeanor in all interactions with the school district.”
