Tanium, a cybersecurity company currently located in Kirkland, recently revealed plans to relocate its headquarters. This decision comes after more than three years since Tanium moved from Emeryville, Calif., to Kirkland in late 2020. The move is a reflection of the company’s need to accommodate its growing team. Tanium is now searching for a larger space in Bellevue as a testament to its expansion and commitment to tapping into the region’s talent pool.

Established in 2007 by Orion Hindawi and his father, David Hindawi, Tanium specializes in safeguarding clients’ end devices, such as laptops and smartphones, from cyber threats. With a client list that includes notable names like Barclays, Honeywell, and AutoNation, Tanium’s move to a larger location in Bellevue is geared towards supporting its expanding operations and workforce, as reported by the Puget Sound Business Journal.

By 2022, Tanium was operating out of around 6,800 square feet at Carillon Point in Kirkland with more than 1,800 employees worldwide, including 81 in Washington. The need for a bigger space is driven partly by the company’s evolving office policy, emphasizing a balance between in-person work and remote roles.

Orion Hindawi, who co-founded Tanium and served as CEO before becoming executive chairman in February 2023, cited the region’s exceptional talent pool as a key factor behind the decision to expand locally. The recent leadership change, with Dan Streetman now serving as CEO, reflects Tanium’s strategic direction towards product development and customer engagement, leveraging Streetman’s experience from Tibco Software, Salesforce, and BMC Software.

With a valuation exceeding $9 billion as of 2020, Tanium is a significant player in the cybersecurity industry. The company maintains offices in various locations, including its original site in Emeryville, as well as in North Carolina, Texas, and Maryland.

This headquarters relocation signifies Tanium’s broader growth strategy, aimed at strengthening its market position, enhancing product offerings, and fostering a dynamic work environment that supports both in-office and remote employees. The move to Bellevue represents Tanium’s commitment to continued growth and innovation within the cybersecurity sector.
